Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about privacy, limits, formats and quality

Are my files uploaded to your server?

No. Every tool on Filix runs inside your browser using JavaScript. The file you pick is read by the page on your own machine, processed there, and saved back to your downloads folder. It never travels to us.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email, no OTP and no login of any kind for the tools.

Is there a file size limit?

Most tools accept up to 200 MB and a few up to 100 MB, shown on each page. The real limit is your device memory, since the work happens locally — a phone will struggle with a 200 MB PDF that a laptop handles easily.

Is there a watermark?

Never. What comes out is your file, exactly as the tool produced it.

Can Filix open a PDF whose password I do not know?

No, and it is not designed to. The Unlock PDF tool removes a password you already have — the kind your bank or payroll system sets on a statement. It does not guess, crack or bypass anything.

Why does the page need internet if nothing is uploaded?

Only to load the page itself and the PDF/image libraries it uses. Once the page has loaded, the actual conversion is offline. Nothing about your file goes over the network.

Which browsers work best?

Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox on a desktop give the best results. Safari and mobile browsers work for most tools, but very large PDFs and the background remover are much happier with a desktop.

How good is the compression?

The PDF compressor rasterises each page at a resolution and JPEG quality derived from the level you choose, so image-heavy scans shrink dramatically while text-only PDFs shrink less. You see the new size before you download, and you can try another level as many times as you like.

What do you record about me?

The tool used, the name of the file you selected, the name of the file produced, your IP address, the city it maps to, and your browser — nothing else, and never the file contents. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

Is Filix really free?

Yes, for personal and business use. If you need these tools inside your own organisation, on your own domain, contact us.
